There’s a whole heap of new attractions heading Birmingham and the West Midlands way in 2019. Here’s a short round up of things to look out for.
Mr Mulligans
Recently opened on Broadway Plaza, Five Ways, Mr Mulligans is a space themed bar and restaurant featuring astronauts, aliens, a crystal mine and some psychedelic lighting. As if that wasn’t enough, there is even a 20,000 square foot crazy golf course continuing the galactic theme.
West Midland Safari Park
Looping Group, a large group of theme and water parks across Europe, recently bought the West Midland Safari Park and promises to begin development immediately to add new features. More information is set to be released later this year.
Mini Brum
Looking forward to spring, the MiniBrum kids attraction is set to be launched at Thinktank this year. MiniBrum is a child-sized mini city construction designed for children under 8 years old, with discovery zones available especially for babies and toddlers. Based around a roleplay theme, it will feature parks, markets, shops, construction sites, workshops for cars, homes and health clinics.
Solihull Bookfest
The Bourneville Bookfest is far from a new phenomenon, however this year it is extending its reach and spreading throughout other sections of Birmingham. The event gives families a chance to meet their favourite authors and illustrators as well as participate in some interactive storytelling activities. This year the event will take place in various areas of the city between 14th – 21st March and will also introduce Sutton Coldfield Bookfest on 2nd March, Solihull Bookfest on 9th March and Barnt Green Bookfest on 16th March.
The Alton Tower Dungeon
The latest attraction to be launched at Alton Towers is akin to the Dungeon experiences in found in London and Warwick Castle. Inspired by the gory history and stories surrounding the location it is based in, the dungeon will house real life actors, a historical narrative and a chilling atmosphere built through set design, sound effects and visual effects.
Stargazing Pods
Another bringing from Alton Towers is the Stargazing Pods attraction set for later this year, opening next to their Enchanted Village. A camp of 102 pods, fitted with heating, Wi-Fi, charging ports and a terrace, will be arranged around a green where kids can use telescopes or just run around and play.
The Falconer’s Quest
Warwick Castle is set to host the UK’s largest birds of prey show, launching 6th April ion time for Easter holidays and running through summer to end on Halloween. From Red Kites to Bald Eagles and an array of aerial acrobatics, the Falconer’s Quest promises to be an exciting story, especially following the sell-out success of the Dragon Slayer story last summer at Warwick Castle.
